How to use the Spotify Web App

If you need to reduce the number of apps you have installed on your PC, then Spotify might be one of them, there are very few differences between the app and the web browser player, and you can even use a free Spotify account on your web browser. 

How to use the Spotify Web App? 

First, you have to access the Spotify Web Player to do that follow these steps: 

  • Open your Favorite Web Browser be it Chrome, Firefox, or Edge it doesn’t matter 
  • Type Spotify in the Search Bar or Click Here to visit Spotify.
  • Access the first Link and Select Log In 
  • If you have an existing account then log in, if you do not or you do not remember your information you can create a new account, don’t worry it is free.

Spotify Web Player Home 

Once you’re done login into your account you will be redirected to the Web Player’s home page, you will notice that it is a simple layout, on the left you will find the most used options which are: The Search Option, Home, Your Library, and Recently Played 

The Spotify Home Page Includes: 

  • Quick links at the top to Featured, Podcasts, Charts, Genres, New Releases, and Discover. 
  • Suggested music based on your listening history. 
  • Your recently played music. 
  • “More Like” sections with specific artists related to your music tastes. 
  • Themed suggestions based on the day of the week or special holidays. 
  • Top music lists. 
  • Recommended podcasts. 

The Home page is customized based on your listening behaviour, so you may see more or fewer options than those listed above. 

The Spotify Search Option: 

If you already know what you’re looking for, then all you have to do is type it and if it is in Spotify, you will find it, otherwise, if you do not find it then it doesn’t exist on Spotify, the Search is categorized in a way that you will get results on Artists, Songs, Albums, Playlists, Podcasts, or even music genre.

Your Spotify Library: 

This option displays all the music you’ve listened to, liked, or saved, you can organize them into different playlists or you can just leave them all in one place and organize them later when you feel like it, to do that all you have to do is click New Playlist in the upper right corner of the screen, and once you find a song that you like, click on the More options menu (three-dot icons) beside playlists, or individual songs. 

Spotify Libary

You will find other options in the More menu including: 

  • Start Radio: Launches a special Spotify Web Player feature and plays songs related to the artist, playlist, or song you launched it from. 
  • Save to Your Library: Stores the song in your library for easy access later. 
  • Add to Queue: Lines up individual tracks in the order you want to listen to them. 
  • Add to Playlist: Quickly saves tracks to any of your playlists. 
  • Copy Song Link: Shares the track to friends on social media or in an email. 

Useful Hotkeys to help you use Spotify Web Player 

Google Chrome: 

  • Pause or Play: Alt+Shift+P 
  • Play Next Track: Alt+Shift+. 
  • Play Previous Track: Alt+Shift+, 
  • Save Track: Alt+Shift+F 

Mozilla Firefox: 

  • Pause or Play: Alt+Shift+P 
  • Play Next Track: Alt+Shift+. 
  • Play Previous Track: Alt+Shift+, 
  • Shuffle: Alt+Shift+F 
  • Repeat: Alt+Shift+R 
  • Play Album: Alt+Shift+B 

Note: To access this feature, install the Chrome Spotify Web Player Hotkey extension, or the Spotify Hotkeys Firefox add-on.
