Airpods to PS4 is a common and often required connection to have to help you play your games, or watch movies and TV with the best audio right to your ears. Connecting your AirPods to the PS4 however, is not the easiest thing to do as it’s not natively supposed to connect.
In today’s TechSplat article, we’re going to take a look at how you can connect your AirPods to your PS4 to enjoy crisp, clean sounds straight into your ears.
How to Connect Airpods to PS4?
By standard, Apple’s AirPods are Bluetooth-enabled devices that can connect to any Bluetooth setting. The PlayStation 4 however, is not. This means that for you to use any Bluetooth device, you need some kind of adaptor to help the PlayStation see the Bluetooth devices.
To connect your AirPods to the PS4, simply follow the below steps:
- First, you need a Bluetooth Adaptor/Reciever. You can find these on Amazon, or check out the LinkAvenir 5.0 Bluetooth Adapter which we use!
- After you’ve got your Bluetooth receiver, you need to plug this into your PlayStation 4. The LinkAvenir by default is always in pairing mode, however, you may need to put your receiver into “Pairing Mode”.
- With your AirPods, you will also need to pair them. To do this, simply put your earphones into their case, then open the lid – and press and hold the “Syncing” button. This button will need to be held for around 30 seconds, or until the lights on the Bluetooth adapter stop blinking. This also goes for the AirPods.
To confirm that this is actually working, if you get into “Settings” > “Devices“, then under “Audio Devices” – you should see “Output to Headphones” which should help you ensure it’s working correctly.
Can you connect Airpods to PS4?
Not natively. Apple and Sony do not really see eye-to-eye for these kinds of things, and because of that – you will need to use a third-party Bluetooth adapter that you can find on Amazon for super cheap. Depending on what your needs are, it may be easier to buy another wireless headset – but for the most part – you will need an adaptor just like this one.
Can you connect Airpods to PS5?
We have another guide on TechSplat, which you can find here to find out about being able to connect AirPods to the PS5 – but this is a similar story to the PS4. You will still require a Bluetooth Reciever because again – the PS5 does not natively support Bluetooth connections.
